นายชาญพิทยา ฉิมพาลี อธิบดีกรมการข้าวและคณะได้เดินทางมาศึกษาดูงานด้านเทคโนโลยีพันธุ์พืชในมลรัฐแคลิฟอร์เนียระหว่าง 11-22 ธันวาคม 2558 คณะยังประกอบด้วยข้าราชการสำนักงบประมาณและกรมบัญชีกลาง โดยศึกษาดูงานในนครลอสแอนเจลิส ซานฟรานซิสโก และซาคราเมนโต โดยได้เยี่ยมชมหน่วยงานด้านการเกษตรของแคลิฟอร์เนีย เกษตรกรปลูกข้าว มหาวิทยาลัยแคลิฟอร์เนีย และหารือกับผู้นำเข้าข้าวจากประเทศไทย

A study tour of officials from Rice Department, led by Mr. Chanpithya Shimphalee, the Director-General was conducted in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Sacramento, California during 11-22 December 2014. The group which was also consisting of senior officials from Comptroller General's Department and Bureau of the Budget, visited several major California food and agricultural sectors, rice farmer, UC Davis and Thai rice importers.
